CLUB awards
Each season, the committee and coaches give out a number of awards to players and members. These are in recognition of a range of contributions to the club for that season.
Don Clarke Club Champion
Named after club legend Don Clarke, it is awarded to the best performed player in the open competition 1st XI for the season. Is based on a points system that awards 1 point for a run, 10 points for a catch, 10 points for an assisted wicket, 20 points for an un assisted wicket, 10 points for an assisted run out and 20 points for an un assisted run out. The player that accumulates the most points from the 1st XI games throughout the season will be the recipient of the award.
As a 1st XI Tyabb Cricketer, Don Clarke resume is nearly peerless. In 24 Seasons and 244 games he scored 10,203 runs and took 198 wickets. His 1st XI accolades are as follows:

His score of 197 is the equal highest individual score in 1st XI for the club.
Most Valuable Player Award
Awarded to the best performed player for the club in that season. Is based on a points system that awards 1 point for a run, 10 points for a catch, 10 points for an assisted wicket, 20 points for an un assisted wicket, 10 points for an assisted run out and 20 points for an un assisted run out. The player that accumulates the most points from senior games played throughout the season will be the recipient of the award. Due to differences in the number of games played (one day match only grades and grades that have a bye) ratios will be used to calculate all player scores and will be calculated based on 14 games being played.
Modge Clarke Memorial
A trophy and perpetual shield presented by the club each year in memory of the late Modge Clarke, to the best cricket player under the age of 21. This award will be decided by the committee in consultation with theselection committee of that season.
Frank Mulvogue Memorial Trophy
A trophy and perpetual shield will be presented by the club each season in memory of the late Frank Mulvogue and be awarded to the Junior cricketer who most contributes to the senior cricket club – eg attending training, sub fielding, helping out around club, playing seniors, etc. This award is to be voted on by the committee.
Named in Memory of Frank Mulvouge, Frank was an active and popular clubman who was a strong advocate for Junior Cricket at the club.
Most Improved Trophy
A trophy and perpetual shield will be awarded to the senior player deemed to have shown the most improvement in their cricket for that season. It will be voted on by the committee with consultation of the coaching staff/match committee. One winner will be awarded for the open competition and one for the women's competition.
Coaches Award
Will be awarded to the players who in the opinion of the coaches has got the best out of themselves throughout the season. It is measured by the players training, commitment, and attitude. This award is for any player in the club and is not game performance or ability based. This award is selected by the coach(s) and assistant(s). One winner will be awarded for the open competition and one for the women's competition.
Ken Davidson Best Clubperson Award
To be awarded to the person who has contributed the most to the club primarily in an off field capacity. On field performance is not taken into consideration, but helping out e.g. scoring, setting up fields or driving players to games can be. This award will be voted on by the committee.
Ken Davidson was on the committee every year from 1959 to 1987 holding executive positions in all but 1 of those years including 4 years as President & 17 Years as Vice President. He put in hours of work at the club, arriving in a down period and help lift it to a peak period in the late 1970's & early 1980's. He nurtured a whole generation of committee people and left an indelible mark on the club.
Luke Batty U12 Award
For the under 12 player who has been an outstanding ambassador for the Tyabb Cricket Club by demonstrating all the attributes that make a good cricketer great.
This Award is named in honour of Luke Batty, an under 12 player who was tragically taken from us after training one night at the club.
Womens Club Champion
Awarded to the best performed player in the Women's 1st XI for the season. Is based on a points system that awards 1 point for a run, 10 points for a catch, 10 points for an assisted wicket, 20 points for an un assisted wicket, 10 points for an assisted run out and 20 points for an un assisted run out. The player that accumulates the most points from the 1st XI games throughout the season will be the recipient of the award.
Jeff Slocombe Most Valuable Player Awards
The Player of the year awards are bestowed to the best player for each open senior grade of cricket as adjudged by opposition captains.
Each round the opposition captain assigns votes to who he believes was Tyabb's 3 best players for that match (3,2,1), with the 3 votes being the best player, 2 votes for the 2nd best player and 1 vote for the third best player.
At the end of the season these votes are collated and a medal is awarded to the player who receives the most votes in each grade of open senior cricket that Tyabb competes in.
These awards are named in the honour of Jeff Slocombe, who has an unbelievable record as a Tyabb cricketer and is arguably the best all-round performed cricketer to ever represent the club. In 13 Seasons and 138 games he scored 5,701 runs, took 379 wickets and 75 catches. His 1st XI accolades are as follows:
